The Bishops accepted the opportunity and are now in the process of bringing together United Methodists to start the journey of creating a way forward for the church. The Western Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church did not wait nor did they give the commission a chance to discover prayerful answers. They elected an openly gay person to serve as Bishop going against the Book of Discipline of the UM Church. We are disappointed in their actions. We want you to know that this action by the Western Jurisdiction does not change anything for us here at St. James United Methodist Church. We will continue to serve Christ in this community and in the world. Our clergy will uphold the laws and doctrines of the United Methodist Church as specified in the Book of Discipline. Together, we will proclaim Jesus as Savior. We will continue to be an outward missional Church discovering ways to help others in their life journeys. St. James UMC mission statement will lead us forward into the world. “Follow Jesus, Love Others, Change the World.” Let us continue to pray for God’s will to be done in and through The United Methodist Church and through St. James UMC. Thank you for your faithfulness to Christ and to His mission and ministry at and through St. James United Methodist Church. There are many opportunities for study at St. James – if you are wondering where to start, click on “A Place to Start” for an overview. The “Love Others” section presents opportunities to connect with others and serve one another at St. James. These are ministry groups that are usually centered around some shared hobby or activity, but will always include fellowship and friendship as a priority. Jesus commands us to go into all the world and make disciples. In the “Change the World” section, you will find many opportunities to serve our community and take the message of Christ into our world. Sign-Up for the St. James eNewsletter!
